Navora Research
We work alongside leading maternal-health researchers to understand what happens to mothers after discharge — and to build the follow-through the evidence says works.

About the research
Half of pregnancy-related deaths and a large share of maternal complications happen after the hospital stay ends — in the weeks when mothers are least supported. Researchers call it the postpartum cliff: insurance gaps, incomplete handoffs, and follow-up care that depends on a new mother remembering to chase it herself.
Navora exists to close that gap. Before we built Naomi, we spent time with the researchers who have studied this problem longest. Their work shapes everything Naomi does — from how she schedules follow-ups to how she nudges, reminds, and escalates.
“Patients navigate this transition largely unsupported, leaving many opportunities for the disparities present during pregnancy to be exacerbated postpartum.”
Cohen & Daw, “Postpartum Cliffs,” JAMA Health Forum

Who we work with
Navora is built in conversation with the people who have spent their careers studying postpartum care. These researchers advise on how Naomi behaves, what she prioritizes, and where the evidence says mothers fall through the cracks.
Dr. Jessica Cohen
Professor of Health Economics, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Dr. Cohen's research examines how health systems and policies shape maternal and newborn health. She co-authored “Postpartum Cliffs” in JAMA Health Forum and led a randomized trial in JAMA Network Open showing that default scheduling and tailored text reminders measurably improve postpartum follow-up care — the exact problem Navora is built to solve.
Anjelica Gangaram
Research lead
Anjelica Gangaram has studied the gaps mothers face after discharge — missed follow-ups, unclear handoffs, and the administrative weight that falls on families in the weeks after birth. Her work informs how Navora designs Naomi's follow-through for real postpartum recovery.

FAQ
Navora Research is how we ground the product in evidence. We work with maternal-health researchers and clinicians to understand what actually happens to mothers after discharge — and we build Naomi around what the evidence says works.
